The initial ideas have been altered since the day we had planned them.
For the beginning of the narrative, we had practiced what was going to happen and how it was going to happen in Lisa’s bedroom and took pictures for the story board. Due to my bedroom being larger and more plain and empty, we’ve decided to use my bedroom for the video shoot of the first few scenes. Lisa’s room has a lot of girly elements to it such as lilac walls, drawings, pictures, tickets, bed sheets and utensils on her drawers. My bedroom on the other half is plain with bland blue walls and blunt bed sheets with wooden bedroom furniture. This would help the more distressful and depressing mood be shown clearly.
For the first flashback of the day Lisa and Jacob met, we were planning on videoing in Queen’s Garden where there is a pleasant garden full of flowers and a large fountain, which would help towards looking like a romantic area due to the amount of couples that wander around there and sit about every day. However we chose to base the first flashback near Marina where there is a wall separating the town and the river where Jacob and I have been ourselves to spend time together. We consider this area as a romantic place for couples to be. Also the wind is much stronger where there’s plenty of water therefore this will help for when Lisa is shown struggling with her umbrella in the first flashback. The scene will appear more realistic and when Jacob comes to help, the umbrella will be a struggle to sort out therefore the whole scene will look reasonably true. The lighting is also satisfying; therefore the bright light at the end of the dark and miserable day will be evidently shown (for when Lisa finally meets Jacob at the end of the narrative) through the lighting in the area and the more recovered atmosphere. The scene will be slightly dark for when Lisa meets Jacob to show the end of the day but the lights will help contrast with the dark to show that Lisa’s in a more content place when she finally sees Jacob and sings to him. This helps to present that Jacob is the light of her live therefore Lisa can’t be in darkness when she’s with him.
For the middle of the narrative where Lisa is walking down a nice, normal, well lit street to a dark and dangerous street, we originally had the idea of her firstly walking down Whitefrigate due to it appearing well lit and appealing and knowing it’s a place where most people regularly walk down. The unsafe street we were originally going to shoot Lisa walking was going to be Nelson Street as it looks grimy and hazardous. However the match on action shot that connects the ‘good’ street to the ‘bad’ is shown as Lisa walking out f the frame and onto another street, we realised this would be hard to accomplish due to the end of Whitefrigate having the Thorntons shop and the beginning of Nelson Street having no building to seem like it could be Thorntons. Therefore there would be noticeable non continuity editing. Because of this we decided to base the location of both streets near to the place Jacob and Lisa meet. The ‘good’ street will now be the little path between a building next to Barclays Commercial Bank and the bank itself, so that when Lisa turns the corner onto the next shot of the ‘bad’ street’ the viewers will be able to see the ‘good’ street in the corner of the frame which will add emphasis to continuity editing . The ‘bad’ street will be positioned in front of the building next to Barclays bank which will help to view Jacob visibly, from where he is stood, when Lisa stops walking.
The second flashback of the day Jacob and Lisa split up due to their arguments was and still will be filmed at Lisa’s living room. The red walls connote love and anger which is the situation they both go through. They’re first sat on the sofa, which appears like a typical couple’s homely sofa, watching TV when Jacob begins the conversation which eventually revolves in a heated quarrel. The mood of the situation is shown clearly at the beginning, the warm, homely relaxed feeling, in the living room with the fluffy sofa cover with puffy blue pillows behind a loving red wall. This swiftly turns into a dark mood with the anger reflecting off the wall and the couple as they fight.
