This mind map shows the ideas of the specific props that could be used in the music video. The notes were made while we were planning the narrative and creating the story board. We did this because whilst we were discussing what could happen in the narrative, the ideas from our imagination appeared quite realistic therefore even the smallest details were noticed and accepted to be included in our video.
The ideas for what prop would be used and where were decided as we were developing our ideas for the actions and events occurring in each scene.
The beginning of the narrative which is a scene where Lisa is sat in her isolated bedroom with tissues and a chocolate box scattered across one side of her bed showing her distress and sorrow. An item of her clothing (preferably her jeans) are positioned on the floor showing that she must had abandoned her clothing in frustration which she later picks up and puts away. On her desk, Lisa has her mobile phone (which implies she has or she will be texting her love), her tissue box (showing she has physically been affected by her problems), and a glass of red wine (which clearly represents her emotion and distraught behaviour). The mirror is used to make the mood of the atmosphere more sentimental as Lisa stands in front of it singing whilst putting her coat on (showing she is getting ready to leave the house) which is similar to her dark and dingy clothing, rubbing her makeup which shows she’s been crying and its smudged under her eye and sorting her hair out which is let down, showing she is preparing herself. Lisa is also shown picking her teddy bear up from off the floor and tidying it away (because it’s a meaningful symbol that Jacob has given her) presenting she must have thrown it on the floor in anger and distress. A laptop is also shown on her bed with a picture of herself are Jacob which shows the audience clearly who Jacob is, what relation they had and what he looks like, (implying she has been reminiscing and thinking about Jacob), it is also used for when Lisa turns to switch it off but she glares at it for a while instead. After tidying herself and her room, she walks towards the door which is located next to the light switch which she switches off (after checking the room one last time) into the next scene.
The scene of the first flashback uses props such as Lisa’s coat and scarf and Jacob’s jacket showing the cold and bitter weather outside. An umbrella was also used for when we decided to have Lisa struggle with it (due to it being turned inside out) and have Jacob offer a helping hand which begins their whole relationship (which shows the first signs of love and romance that is contrasting to the present day of opening sequence and the quest). However the coat, jacket and scarf will have to be different from those on the quest of the present day so that they will represent the past which was from a long while ago in their slightly younger years.
The clothing in the first flashback will be a bit more vibrant and cheerful to portray the mood of the situation. Both Lisa’s and Jacob’s hair will be the opposite to the present day, Lisa’s hair will be short and let down to show her free spirit and youth and Jacob’s hair will be short and styled to show he cares about his appearance and style.
The middle of the narrative which shows Lisa walking down the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ street have limited props due to the main scene being about the setting. Lisa will still be seen in her coat and scarf showing she daring the ghastly weather to continue her quest. Her clothing will help to encourage continuity editing from the opening sequence to show she was inside her house, now (a few minutes later) she is outside. In the middle of the narrative, towards the end we see Jacob waiting for Lisa. His clothing is plain and bland, a leather jacket shows he has matured and grown older since the past however his characteristics are still shown through his white designer trainers and fashionable jeans showing he still cares for his appearance.
The second flashback shows more props than the last scene again showing their past was occupied and full which is shown through their homely living room. The dark blue sofa (which Lisa and Jacob are seen to be sat on, watching TV) with the blue designed pillows shows their calm and cool styled living room. The furry cream sheet which is laid over the sofa shows they have contrast and style in their home. The red wall connotes the colour of love which helps to present a comfortable and loving couple, living in their own cosy home. The door is also a major prop in this scene because it is seen towards the end of the scene when Jacob is presented slamming the door after grabbing his jacket (different item to the present time and the first flashback to show another time in the past) and leaving the room. The clothing of Lisa is casual as she is in a plain brown half sleeved top (showing her sense of modern but youthful style) with denim shorts and black tights, reinforcing the relaxed and day to day mood. Jacob is shown in a white top with red writing which shows humour (to emphasize the idea of his youth and wittiness), along with denim jeans and plain black socks which again presents the careless mood. Lisa’s hair is half tied up and half let down showing by age she has matured but also has her free spirit, Jacobs hair is ordinary and regular (which is contrasting to the first flashback which shows he cares about his appearance) showing he feels comfortable around Lisa and living with her therefore there is no need to style his hair.
For the very last scene the props are simple, we limited to amount of props due to the last scene being based mainly and only on Lisa singing to express herself to Jacob. The only props are Lisa’s coat and scarf from the quest and Jacob’s jacket.
